AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan says there are concerns about the way the AIS will be funded and the quality of players it will recruit.
“I think it’s really important for us to get that information out to the public,” he told The ABC.
“And if we don’t, there are a lot of people who are going to be concerned.”
AFL’s response ‘incomplete’ and ‘overstated’ AFL boss Gillon McDonald says there is an issue of ‘over-simplification’ when it comes to the funding formula for the A League.
“There’s an issue in the ABL, there’s a huge amount of money in the league and there’s an awful lot of work going on with it,” he said.
In an interview with The Australian newspaper, Mr McDonald said the A league was in discussions with AIS Commissioner Michael Malone over the funding of the A.”
What we’re working with them on is to find a way of simplifying the way that the league works.”
In an interview with The Australian newspaper, Mr McDonald said the A league was in discussions with AIS Commissioner Michael Malone over the funding of the A.
Mr Malone said in a statement on Thursday that he was “disappointed” with the lack of transparency and said he would work with the AEL to address any issues.
“AFL Commissioner Michael Maloney said he was ‘disappointed’ with the decision of the ACCC not to approve AFL’s proposed A-league funding model.
He said the ACCCC would continue to consult with the AFL and AEL about future funding models.”
‘Fully aware’ of potential pitfalls AFL Chief Executive Gillon McIlroy says he fully understands the concerns about potential pitfalls that can arise from the AAL.
“As I said earlier in the year, we know that the ALeague is going to come in at a time where it’s going to need to compete,” Mr McDonald told The Australian.
“The AFL is the only club in Australia that will be playing in the new A-L. “
We’ve been working closely with the ACCL to understand how that’s going.””

And we’re absolutely confident that we’re doing everything that we can to ensure that our club can continue to grow.
Our first priority is to get as much of that information as we can,” he added.
